I know I have been absent from the blogging world for quite a while, but I have a good reason! I moved. That's right. I moved from the Chicago suburbs to the Springfield, MO area. It was crazy, hectic, frustrating, exciting, sad, and hopefully for the better! We have tons of family down here (well, hubby does anyway and they all seem to have welcomed me with open arms). I now have a full-time job. It's not my dream job, but it pays and offers insurance which we desperately needed!
Hubby has also started his own business. He's working hard at it and we're crossing our fingers that it will grow quickly. My reasons may be a little selfish, though. I miss being a stay-at-home mom - it's hard not to be there for all the little things in my kids lives, I want to go back to school so I can do something I love, but I can't do any of that right now because we need my income and insurance. Maybe someday though. A girl can dream, right?
The kids seem to be adjusting well down here, though. They have their friends and they like the school.
There's a couple downsides to our semi-sudden move to MO though. We are currently living with my hubby's 80 yr old Grandma. While I am eternally grateful she took us in and is giving us time to get back on our feet, I am so anxious to have a place of my own again. There's a few things that we need to take care of before that can happen, but we have some ideas blooming in our brains!
But, if you notice, the title of this post says "Double Move!" What's that all about? I am moving my blog from Blogger to my own website. That's right. I decided to finally get use out of the domain I have been paying for the last few years. To be honest, I don't know if anyone reads this blog anymore - especially with the recent lack of posts - but for those that are interested, the new blog will be at http://hippiekender.com. I have imported all my old Blogger posts and will be adding widgets, gadgets and other do-dads as I have time (please be patient with me as I get everything situated - I literally just installed the blog). And hopefully, I will be posting much more often. I will also be looking into a way to make the transition as seamless as possible, but if you want to keep tabs on my blog, you may need to head over there and "follow" it.
That's about it for tonight. It's been a long day and an even longer week. I think it's time to go play some video games with the hubby!
Take care,
